The summer is here and you have decided to take on a home DIY restoration project. It is true that doing your own restoration project can save you time and money. However, it is important that you know the potential hazardous risks that can be found in your home.

When beginning a repair project it is important that you look out for the following:

Collapsing ceilings and falling objects- If the water damage in your home was caused by water leaking from the upper floor down to the lower floor this can cause the ceiling to become weak and collapse.

Asbestos and lead-If you reside in an older home it is possible that the paint found in your home may contain traces of lead and asbestos.

Mold- Mold can be found anywhere in your home depending on your homes condition.

Crawlspaces and confined spaces-Crawl spaces don't provide much room for movement and can contain toxic gases.

Chemicals-The improper storage and misuse of chemicals can cause harm.

Electrical- Wires that are exposed can cause electrical shock and potential fires.
